    hi,

i have this code from megatron

and for some reason what ever option you have, even if you have jst one in the program, all the computer does is logoff,

can anyone help or come up with another solution

    Option Explicit
    Private Const EWX_POWEROFF = &H8
    Private Const EWX_REBOOT = 2
    Private Const EWX_LOGOFF = 0
Private Declare Function ExitWindowsEx Lib "user32" (ByVal uFlags As Long, ByVal dwReserved As Long) As Long

    Private Sub Timer2_Timer()
    If Text1.Text = Label1.Caption Then
    If optsd.Value = True Then
    'Shut the computer off
    ExitWindowsEx EWX_POWEROFF, &H8
    ElseIf optr.Value = True Then
    'Reboot the computer
    ExitWindowsEx EWX_REBOOT, 0
    ElseIf optlo.Value = True Then
    'Logoff
    ExitWindowsEx EWX_LOGOFF, 0
    End If

    End If
    End Sub

    Cheers

Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen a angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.

sorry to intrude but I don't understand your question.
the three options; poweroff, reboot, or logoff see pretty obvious except when run on NT.

"can anyone help or come up with another solution"
what do you want it to do?
I am so skeptical, I can hardly believe it!

    You might try this site:

http://www.jps.org/~wine/WinDoc/msdn...nc/src/f23.htm and see if it gives you any clues.

Apparently on Windows NT, you need to pass additional information for the Reboot and Shutdown commands.

    Also use the EWX_FORCE constant:
    Code:
    'In general section
    Const EWX_LOGOFF = 0
    Const EWX_SHUTDOWN = 1
    Const EWX_REBOOT = 2
    Const EWX_FORCE = 4
Private Declare Function ExitWindowsEx Lib "user32" (ByVal uFlags As Long, ByVal dwReserved As Long) As Long
    Private Sub Form_Load()
msg = MsgBox("This program is going to reboot your computer. Press OK to continue or Cancel to stop.", vbCritical + vbOKCancel + 256, App.Title)
If (msg = vbCancel) Then End
        'reboot the computer
        ret& = ExitWindowsEx(EWX_FORCE Or EWX_REBOOT, 0)
    End Sub
And this is for Windows NT:
    Code:
    'In a module
    Private Const EWX_LOGOFF = 0
    Private Const EWX_SHUTDOWN = 1
    Private Const EWX_REBOOT = 2

    This line
    Code:
    ExitWindowsEx EWX_POWEROFF, &H8
    Should be:
    Code:
