ok, i have WindowsXP Home and want to put multiple OS's on this laptop. I want to creat 3 partitions split up 50 +25 +25 and don't want to format my computer and don't want to download Partition Magic (I don't want to spend money).

Is there a free Partitioning program that you know of or a way to do it in WinXP without formatting?

Note: I have Alcohol 120% which creates virtual drives, but I dont think it actually patitions the drive to allow the user to select which OS to start up in, or does it?

i don't know if one is available for free. i'd spend the $$ for Partition Magic if you can't backup your data, and use FDISK, which is a DOS utility that is included with all OS's.

Or seeing as you are using XP, use the partition setup screen during setup, much better than FDISK and you can format w/ NTFS (No idea why people still want to use that old outdated proggie).

Because if you're reinstalling anything other than XP its a pain in the hole waiting for setup to finally load and get to the partition options screen.
All you need for fdisk is a boot disk and away you go :)
