My sound card is beeping like nuts whenever I'm busy doing things..like if I open my CDRipper and load a cd it beeps like nuts, if I open an app it beeps...anything that involves something new and it just beeps beeps and all kinds of stupid expressions of beeps. If I scroll it beeps...it's driving me bleepin' mad...LOL

What setting have I messed up?

Try rebooting...if not then check the Control Panel/Sounds and see if there are any extra sounds assigns to events.

I Dont know IF this will fix it or if you tried this , but goto device manager .
"winkey + pause/break" Find the sound card in the list and select it , click remove . After it's removed from the list click refresh and let it reload the drivers .

Does soundcard show any error's in device manager?

    What are the DMA(s), IRQ(s)?

Are there any address that are real close to another device?

Just for grin and giggles .... Does it only happen with input from the mouse ? are they on the same IRQ ?
When did it happen and is it a new system ?

Never gave it a though but that is an idea..I don't even know when it started a few days ago but I have'e been home much..holidays..I was playing around with a com object and maybe I touched some settings I should not have.

Will do some testing now with the remove and refresh and checking the ports..back later.

Try re-installing any configuration software that came with your sound card.

You mean as in Creative Labs.
It is the pc speaker not the speaker package.
It happens more whenever I deal with windows
I uninstalled the multimedia and reinstalled it and it went balistic.
When I reboot it's almost continued morris code it just beeps, bleeps, and sqeaks.

When my speaker system is playing the thunder and lightenin on open the stupid beeps are still playing.

Thanks all...I can't get it to go away and the more I play the worse it gets. I viurs checked it and removed the multimedia and the sound blaster and reinstalled the stuff.
It must be mechanical and the dumb techs are not on duty tomorrow so I have to drive it in of Friday.

Noticed that when I rebooted it was going nuts and then I was running the virus checker and it was continual but then I opened the cd door to remove my windows disk and the noise stopped.

Right now I am doing my junk and I don't hear it. I called the tech support and they haven't even heard of such a thing. I let them listen and was told bring it in...When it gets real active it sounds like an ambulance siren.

Again, thanks all for your input.

Hey Joe, did you ever figure this out? I have a Compaq PC (it's ok, not mine, belongs to work!!!) and it doesn't have a soundcard, but when I power the thing up it beeps enough to turn the air blue, some so thick'n'fast the thing squeaks - I'd love to fix the damn thing...

going to the shop tomorrow..will let you know.
I know it's somehow in the system speaker and related somehow to the cdRom cause it won't stop when I am in anything related and as well on boot..but on boot it's also crazy.

Hmmm, mine did it before it had a cd rom in it. Could it be to do with the network?

    Hey, here's one -

I got two machines connected with network cards - both got advanced power management things (you can turn the machines off from windys). If I shut down my work machine, so it's right off, and then shut down my own machine, as that one powers off, the other one powers up again... wierd? Or just wired?
