It's all very well for people in ciries to moan on about Boycotting the pumps, but I live in the middle of nowhere, and cannot get anywhere without using a Petrol or Diesel powered vehicle!!!!

Stop talking rubbish, and consider us bumpkins for a change!!!

Forgive Me I'm american, seems your situation appears to be mainly a local one (also since yer up in the north of scottland I Can imagine why you need Disel)

I'll admit that the north of scotland is about the crappest place on the planet to live, but (which most people don't seem to realise) everyone north of Edinburgh does NOT live on a farm and drive tractors. Also, I have never seen a petrol powered bus!!

I hail from Manchester and we're pretty much in the dark ages here now there's no petrol.

Couple that with the fact that the taxis are blockading the city centre and nothing's moving for miles. Cars are just running out of fuel in the street.

It doesn't matter whether you're in the north of scotland of the heart of the northwest, twenty miles is still twenty miles and without fuel it's a hell of a trek.

Anyway, I thought all northern Scotlanders were tough SOB's anyway and ran to work in the morning carrying a whole sheep on their back for dinner?

It's the same story down here in the south. I live in Hastings but contract round the country. At the moment I'm working just off the M25 and go past about 10 petrol stations on my way to work of which the only one was open and I managed to fill up yesterday. That's only going to last me untill tommorow and that station has now run out. But I can deal with the inconvienience as The reaons they are doing it are bloody good.

I paid $1.75 (NorthWest U.S.) and I thought that was outrageous. Maybe I won't complain so much. :) Of course I drive 120 miles round trip to work and back everyday, so I burn through it pretty quick.

The title thread is "Boycott the pumps" - We can only choose to boycott if the pumps have some petrol to boycott.

However, I support the current action - essential services excepted (provided the word "essential" is properly defined) and would quite wiilingly be confined to home for however long.

On the TV news this evening Tony Blair said that when we "pause and reflect" we would all realise that that the current action is wrong. Well, I have paused, and I have reflected, and the only thing that is wrong is that Tony Blair has either misread the mood of the country (hard to believe) or he is just an intransigent tw*t who wants to win the argument just for the sake of winning the argument.

(Substitute "a" or "i" in tw*t depending on your upbringing and your level of anger)

I'll have an 'a' please Bob. It certainly seems like he's sticking his fingers in his ears and going "naanaanaanaanaanaa" over this whole thing in case he has to admit defeat.

Actually I don't drive so it's not particularly bothered me, but it has shown how our whole society is totally dependant on fuel. In 50 years or however long, there won't be any fuel anywhere, what are we gonna do then? People who waste fuel really piss me off, especially those uppity middle-aged women who drive their one child to school and back every day, in their brand new 3-miles-to-the-gallon land rover, through a busy town centre. And then while they're waiting for the kids to go in/come out they leave the engine running so they can have the air conditioning or heating on - grrrr it makes me mad!

What about the ones who keep their rear view mirror in a position so that they can look at themselves too, just so they can make sure they look perfect, never mind whether they're a hazard? Aaaarrrggghhhh they're so annoying!

Phew, first time back to VB World in a day or so. Been busy getting my new website up and running (www.petrol_syphoners.co.uk). I've now got 26 fully trained pre-pubescent kids out on the streets collecting petrol for those willing to pay. The scrotes are fully conversant with all flavours of lockable caps and, if needed, are practised in the art of fuel line hacking.

There were 28 in my team but two were dismissed for collecting LRP rather than unleaded. Most of it's stored succinctly (in 4pint milk cartons) so if any of you want some just order on-line.

Biggest order todate has been for 120litres @ £2.63 a litre from a Mr.Geye Forks. I think he might have been trying to tell me something, but I was distracted at the vital moment when I caught sight of Tony Bleurg spouting something which looked like gonads.
