I found this program on my laptop, along with TvNow, and Wireless Connection Mgr, and wondered what it was. I ran it, and it says that it will take four hours to complete to cycle the battery. I ran it, and it immediately dropped down to 4 hours.

It is now at -Calibration Discharge 41%

It warns not to unplug the device until the program finishes, and says it is alright to continue using the machine, but says nothing of turning the machine off during execution.

I don't like to go out with the laptop on, but I guess that I'll have to just to let the program finish.

Any suggestions? How often would I run this? I guess it cycles the battery (which is something that I rarely let happen.)

Wish it luck! :D

now 99.9% with a flashing message "Do not unplug AC adapter"
and a msgbox warning to save all work, as batter has been almost fully discharged.

Noww it's doing a Courtesy Charge.

wonder why the OS didn't shut me down like it should have?

must be a real utility from HP

88.3% charged. 96% complete, and it hasn't melted down, yet :D
14 minutes to go

SUCCESS. I turned the option to run every week OFF, though.

Don't mess with the battery - be very, very afraid of the battery ;)

I've been through two different DELL laptops in the past couple of year, and the "battery usage memory" programming in place on these laptops stinks

I've already been forced to purchase a new DELL battery for my most recent laptop - although, I've barely actually used it on battery power (maybe only a dozen times!).

I'm now so paranoid that when I boot the laptop, the power cord must be in. I do not want to confuse the "memory algorithms" in an way...

If I am forced to use the battery - I use it until it bottoms out and asks for "real power".

thanks for the comment. i rarely use the battery, and this may or may not have helped increase its life. I don't plan on using it much, though. :D
