Would anyone be interested in programming a P2P client for sharing copyright free music.

I think this would be a great way to get unsigned artists out to the world.

Please reply. You can email me at NoahMD@gmail.com. You can also IM me on AIM, AIC Freak 000 or MSN, Noah0504@aol.com.

Thanks.

If you don't mind having the client written in VB I will gladly start experimenting.

If you have something to offer I may even sit down and write my own functions to handle the network calls, but otherwise I will be using WinSock Controls.

I can write multi-threading into it (like Kazaa for example where you can download off of 30 people at once thus speeding up your dl time, cuz you can download many segments at once)

I have written an FTP progam, a MSN-RipOff chat service, an Online Kaiser game, so a P2P Client would be a nice experiment.

Yes, I plan on writing the client in VB, so that would work.

Do you have AIM, Yahoo, or MSN? That way we could discuss the project a little easier.

Do you mean VB6 or VB.NET?

I'd be interested in helping on this as well if you mean VB6. I've written a few Client / Server type apps so have some experience in the area, all winsock based.

If you want send me an email on it, steven6282@sc.rr.com

if you don't mind me asking... Why do you want to do this? P2P applications are already numerous in amount, and I believe several of them already handles legal music... Furthermore writing a thing such as this in VB seems like a bad thing to do... It's nice for apps that are not very requiring, but God knows fasttrack wouldn't be beautiful on it... (please do correct me if I'm wrong).

If, however, you do manage to pull this off, with fasttrack - I'd like to see your code, be it pseudo or real code, just to see exactly how you did.

I can't say I believe in a project such as this, but if you run into any problems, post on this forum, and I'll come running ;).
