WIN98 Hardware API

Are there API functions that allow to get hardware information of the system running WIN98. I am particularly interested in state of the mouse (present / not present / enabled in HW profile / Disabled in HW profile ). I understand I can use GetSystemMetrics(SM_MOUSEPRESENT), but it doesn't tell me if mouse is enabled/disabled.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
