Why's that ?
Have you just found that the tooth fairy isn't real or is there another reason :)

There is no tooth fairy ? yeah right, next thing you'll be saying is that there is no santa as well.
No the real reason is that I have been having car problems. About four month's ago I picked up a M plate ford esort for just under 4 grand. only had 32k on the clock and I brought it off a granny, so I thought great, low mileage and one owner who probably hasn't taken it over 30mph. After about two weeks of having it, it start's stalling mostly every time the engine is idle. So after about a month of this I take it down to a local garage, they have a look and say they can't help. So I then take it to my local ford dealer. Two day's later they come back to me and say it is all sorted and it only came to £60. Great, got it home a couple of weekend's ago and when it cam to the monday morning drive to work (70 miles round the M25) it goes pear shape again and also need's a new clutch.
So I take it back to ford and say I'm not overly happy that they said it was not sorted out but these things happen.
Today I get a phone call from them and they say it's all sorted. I said great what was the problem. well we replaced the clutch and that's sorted out your stalling problem.
I don't know a great deal about cars but I know dodgy clutches shouldn't cause cars to stall, escpecially as I had the stalling problem before clutch problems.
So Im going there on saturday, payup (£330 quid to change a clutch, wich I think is extorsion) and take it for a good spin. If it the stalling problem is sorted (which I doubt) then all well and good, but if it isn't,my head will go like the heads in the film scanners.

I got given a car, just failed it's MOT (partly because of me leaving it in the same place for few months) & got quoted £350 to fix.
I just failed my 4th driving test yesterday as well, so I'd agree with the

hard luck on the driving test, but i'm sure you will pass next time :) , luckily I scraped through first time with 13 minor's many a year ago. The worst thing is that as soon as you get your car, it just eat's your money away with petrol prices, insurance, repairs. The above mentioned car is my first decent car, and I thought great, I won't meed to do much work on it but iv'e already forked out over £500 on it. One thing is for sure, I'm not ever going to buy a ford again

Lucky you only had to pay 60 the first time! 330 I guess is normal, I know I have not passed yet, but am expecting to get that sort of thing with every time I take a car to a garage (not that I don't trust them as they will spot a mile off that I haven't a clue about anything to do with cars)...
I only got 4 minors this time! which is why I'm slightly ticked with the major. What did they do for the £60 then?

All that I could see was that they Changed the spark plug's, but they also said they fiddled around with the EPU (engine process unit), but it didn't sort out the problem, so it was probably the most expensive spark plug change in the world

Can you not haggle some of this off from the 330 bill?

That's what I am going to find out tommorow when I pick up my car again but I doubt it because it is a main dealer.

Ian,
I am beginning to think you are my alter ego, who cant spell Iain ;)
We both have an unhealthy love for drinking excessive amounts of alcohol, we are both 21, and I passed my driving test with 13 minors as well.
Your missus isn’t called Vicky by any chance is she ?

No, it's clare, but I did go out with a girl called Vicky a few years ago  . she dumped me just before I got into contracting and tried to get back with me when she realised the money I just started earning, needless to say, I told her where she could stick her so called love.

I have some experience being a auto mechanic...(somewhat) hehe ...you said your car is stalling?
What year is the ford? does it have carburation? or fuel injection?.
p.s. in all my years of messing with cars.. all i have to say is...FORDS suck.

Ford= Found on road dead
Ford = fix or repair daily
Ford = ****ed over rebult dodge
drof(ford backwards) = driver returns on foot.
Now you said it stalls when it is at a idle? does it stall when the car is in park or when you have it in drive?
Also about the stall...does the engine actually stop or does it slow down and then does it's idle get faster on it's own? if that is the case then the cars own computer system is trying to balance the gas/air ratio sent in the injectors...and you probably need another computer..
Now about the price of replacing the clutch....here in the states the price they are charging you si about the same here...and actually that is a cheap price, because to actually get to the clutch the mechanic has to take the entire front lower suspension of the car completely out just to get to the transmission.... thats front wheel drive for ya... it's a stupid idea,.. the only good a front wheel drive is...is for those people that live in areas that have alot of hills... for climbing...
But like i metioned above...ask the ford dealers if the
fuel injectors themselves are still good... if they are ok..ask the about the "Map sensor", that is what it is called here in the states..i dont know if there is a different name where you are at..but the "map sensor" is usually the thing that makes the car stall....and then after a while...the car wont run at all.
Let me know what happens.
See ya

Is park neutral? Here in the UK just about all cars are manual transmission, we don't bother with automatics much.

Well, you know us americans, we suck at making cars :D So I wouldn't mind having a Ferari, or a BMW :D :D :D :D
Fuel pump or the fuel filter.... they might have something to do with it..
and the old american cars were awesome....the new ones suck balls....
1970 Chevelle, 1968 Z28 camaro, 1958 Corvette,1957 chevy bell air(F**ing awesome) 1968 Nova,
All the old ford mustangs were good cars too, ford fairlane, ford thunderbird, all good cars.
Now those were good cars.... back in the days when cars were made like real CARS! not all this new age fancy electronic ****...that when some little electronic part goes bad the whole car wont run, unlike when the classics were built..they could take a beating and keep going.
What is even more stupid and proves the bullshit that the local government uses on the people of California..is the stupid smog laws...i mean they make all of the "citizens" drive smog effiecent cars..yet when you drive behind the public transportation (BUS) it shoots out black smoke like crazy.
Ok am done whining..:)
