Hi!
I have WinXP installed here..
I was wondering how to block deleting (removing) files from a user Account's Desktop...
I mean : I made an account for a user (In Windows) and then an Administrator account.. the user can't delete any files from the Administrator account.. but he can delete his own files (Desktop...).. I want also to block deleting his own files (Shortcuts..) (So he also can't remove any files from his desktop..
(Like : Writing without Deleting.)
Hope you got my meaning well..
Waiting your replies as fast as possible..
Cheers..

There should be a directory called:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\
Set the permissions on this directory so only the Administrator can write and delete files. Any shortcuts you put in this directory will then be visible to all users, but they will not be able to delete them.

But this way only works if I made Sharing between users PCs... I don't want to make it..
So is there a way to block this thingy without making Sharing (Users at the same PC)
Thanks in advance..

Make the shortcuts read-only or apply the permissions still, just make sure you allow yourself to turn them back on when you need to modify them.

1. Open the user's account in My Computer (C:\Documents and Settings\User1\) and right-click the Desktop folder.
2. Click the Security tab (If this is not visible, click Cancel and then click the Tools menu, Folder Options..., View, uncheck Use Simple File Sharing (Recommended), redo above procedure to get back to the security tab).
3. Click Add....
4. Type in the users username and click OK.
5. Click Advanced.
6. Select the user and click Edit...
7. Uncheck Delete, Delete Subfolders and Files and Change Permissions under the Allow column.
8. Click OK, OK, OK.
