crash when insert cd???
basicly my other computer crashes when a cd is inserted and the new 'cd window' is set focused, is this a hard ware or software issue???

Probably best to do a virus scan, and possible get the latest drivers for your CD/DVD drive.

Sounds like it could be a hardware problem check connectors are inserted properly

My friend in college had the same problem. He was running windows XP and didnt have the latest updates. He got them and then he was fine. Let me know if that helps.

My cd-rom likes to crash when playing audio CDs(kernel32.dll error), data CDs run great though. It's a Sony 48x drive.

check the CD in BIOS, is it seen properly there? is it setup as master, slave?
all windows should have a driver to use the CD, is the CD you have put in ok, just put an audio one in to test,
if it fails then maybe something wrong with CD Hardware
