 [RESOLVED] DVD-ROM drive stuffed (Resolved)
Hi,
How do I remove a cd that is stuck in the drive? My dvd drive just stopped working and my Warcraft 3 cd is inside.  I know I need to open up the case and remove the drive but then what do I do?

Use the good old paper clip. Place it in the little hole and push it, it should push a cog that opens the drive enough for you to open it by hand to get the CD out.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

Thanx I'll remember that. My dad already solved the problem by getting a knife or something and putting it under the tray and putting the tray out, the tray was not closed completely.

That was gonna be my second suggestion if it didn't have the paperclip hole  .
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

you could also just take the top of the drive... usually just 4 screws and push the tray out....
btw: make sure you get the clips for the face plate....

- Always post your code!!!! We can't read your mind!!! (well, at least most of us!)
- Allways Include the Name and Line of the Exception (if one is occuring!)
- If it is relevant state the version of Visual Studio/.Net Framwork you are using (2002/2003/2005)

Um, that usually invalidates your warranty and is an absolute waste of time unless you don't have a paperclip, in which case I'd use a knife rather than ripping my drive apart.

Usually just after the warrenty expires something happens.
You Think using a knife wont void warrenty?
in this case i assumed that the drive was dead...
and just because you remove a warrenty sticker doesnt mean that you cant get warrenty work done. I bought a broken PS2 for $20 cdn and sent it in for repart ($10 for mailing) and got a new PS2 Back (extensive damage, so they gave me a new one) and i had personally opened up the ps2 and checked to see what was wrong (and the previous owner did to, and lost screws).
They didnt say anything and shipped it back Air Freight ($65 just for shipping)
Anyway, I do it all the time, athough i do use paper clips on the drivers that have the holes.
