could someone please expand this for me:
    (a+x)^n

if n is a +ve integer, then I can use pascals triangle, but quite often it is a fration. in which case the binomial expand to infinity, but how do you find, for example, the first four numbers of:
    (1+x)^1/3

I think it is something like:
    1/0! + 1+x1/3/1! + (x-1)x1/3/1!2! + (x-1)(x-2)x1/3/1!2!3!

am I correct? I have a maths exam tommorrow, I want to pass the damn thing.
