mdw file error

I am using VB6 with Access 2000. From the last couple of days I am receiving an error saying

The error is related to the System.mdw file of Access. What is the reason for this error and what should be done to prevent it? I tried to overwrite it from another machine, but the same problem persists.

My mdw problem was solved. I used the DAO properties to set the path explicitly to the mdw file and it worked.

Now what I would like to know is how can I access the info stored in the mdw file? Is it just like any other mdb database file?
