Hi there,

I installed Visual Studio 6.0 last night, and when I try to run VB, the IDE opens, but so does and windows installer box, and states that it is "Preparing to Install". It will sit like this indefinitely. If I hit cancel, it says "Preparing to Cancel", and will again sit indefinitely.

I have my VS cd in the drive, but it does not seem to try to install off of it.

I have installed this copy of Visual Studio any number of times, and this is the first problem I have had.

Any suggestion other than doing a re-install?

That exact same thing happened to me!

It was something else I installed. I removed it, then it worked fine.

I'm thinking it was a plug-in, but maybe not. It was a while ago.

Check for 3rd party OCX that may be still be on your pc, which arnt used.

Check the registry for invalid VB6 entries (has this been installed before)

Run a program (such as Ashampoo! Optimizer,Tune Up etc) to clean up Windows, IE and the registry for Redundant Entries and other values no longer in use:wave:
