I have been reading through the archives for solutions to a simple problem.

From my reading I have determined that the configuration of our firewall is preventing the connection to my FTP site from outside.

Convincing my IS manager that the firewall needs to be reconfigured well....

Is it normal HTTP rules to ignore .exe files on a web server. I have an exe file in the same folder as a webpage default.html.
but calls direct to it or hyperlinked to it do not react as I expect.

The file is a winzip self extractor for applying changes to an existing program but something is preventing direct access. Currently, I put the exe in a zip file and depend on the user to open the zip and run the exe but this is cumbersome for the average PC user.

Why won't the exe open with the same 'internet open/save warning' that the zip files open with?
