txtbox data problem

Ok The first and last name of a person will be going
into 1 text box my problem is when I do a search for
said person I have to be able to do it, using first or last name. how do I define the data base to look for a last name in a data field where first and last name was intered as one data field.
example John Smith is typed in to txtbox labled ClinetName
now later after I have to look it up all I remember is one part of the name how do I make the data base look up by last name.
