hello ppl... i'am a newbie programmer and i have a big project ahead of me.

i was assisgned a project to control/monitor all the computer equipments my company from recieving it to transfering it and tracking each and evry part of the pc.

the thing is,i dont know where to start the project. vb6 and msaccess are the tools which i was supposed to use.

can someone give me some pointers or general steps for a succesful project. cuz i just know how to program, i dont have much skills in system analysis and design.

I could give you a few pointers.

Firstly find out how the business operates. For instance for every computer part, there might be a route. You need to list down all the stops on the route. This will give you a general work-flow.

Next find out who authorizes these parts to be moved. This could be the manager etc...

Then you can get the user roles required for movement of parts.

Study what system is currently used. For every business there will be some underlying process. Pay attention to that process and then you can automate it.

This is a general way to go about it. What more / specific information do you need?

off i go to my flowcharts. i just wish that there is a dedicated thread for this kind of this so that it can give a boost to newbie programmers like me. :D
