Two amoebae are placed in a test tube. They reproduce by splitting themselves in two, a process that takes 5 minutes. After four hours they have filled the test tube. How long will it take a single amoeba in an identical quantity of water to do the same?
PS: If you get this wrong you'll kick yourself when you see the answer...

4 hours / 5 minutes is 48, 3:55hours / 5 minutes is 47,
so add one cycle, because
1 - 2
5 2 4
10 4 16
15 16 255
etc
haha!
