 New Forums
At a number of people's request, the moderators and I have created a new forum area for everyone's use. This is the VBForums UtilityBank. This is an area where complete programs, add-ins, components, and other resources can be placed to share with fellow programmers and developers.

Below is what it states in the submission forum for the UtilityBank. You would place such submissions in the Submissions Forum (hence the name  ):

Submissions:
The following are guidelines for making a submission. Submissions should include an attached zip (.zip) that contains all of the necessary programs for the resource/utility along with the appropriate descriptive information as described below.
When posting:
- Create a new thread in this forum with a subject that describes your submission. The subject should start with a descriptive word such as Tutorial, VB-Addin, Utility, etc. This should be followed by the name of the item and a brief description (3 to 5 words). For example:
Tutorial: Programming Delegates in C#
VB Addin - MyReportWriter - Reporting Features Add-in
Component - DBI Grid Tool - .NET Components
- Include the following information within the post (note you can copy and paste this from here:
- Title
- Description
- Feature list
- Screen-shots (if apt)
- Author name
- System Requirements
- License info
- Include the appropriate attachment - a single zip file. If your post is too big. Contact the moderator.
- If your program is awkward to install, please include instructions on how to do it.
Note that this forum is for complete items and is not for coding help or snippets..
Before posting:
- Test your program and make sure it works. If possible, try it on another computer.
- Check your zip file and make sure all required files for your program are included.
- Verify that your program does not contain any viruses - [em]note that by submitting a program you warrant that your program is virus free.[/em]
- Check the UtilityBank to make sure your program has not been previously submitted.
If possible, please submit the source code (if you wish this can be sent in a private message to the moderator. If requested, we will not publish such source code).

Okay, I goofed. I made the container public, but missed setting the individual forums public. It should look a lot more usable now....

Can you expand the new sections? Leaving them closed like they are, people like me will never go in them.
Also, are all of them really neccessary? Alot of utilities would fall under the .NET forum and general developer forum so now they'll have 2 different places they can go and it'll only confuse new members.
Why not have 'Programming Resources' and under itt, you have differeng languages (like VB6, C++, VB.NET, ect..) and you post utilities and code in that forum. That way you combine the Code Bank and Utility Bank together because as it looks now, it looks like it's just a waste of space.

The current categories and structure were done based on discussions between the moderators. We will take suggestions for future changes.
As far, however, as changing categories, I'm going to ask that we leave them as they are until items start getting submitted. If si_the_geek finds that additional or different categories are needed, then we will address that at the time. We need items posted, however, before that will become a real issue.

It would make the forums alot less cluttered if they were combined into 1 forum (they would seemlessly combine). It's just going to make it more difficult and confusing if you change them and combine/add later. It's best to set it up once and leave it, instead of waiting for people to start posting and then changing it from under them.
When will they be expanded? I doubt most people will even go into those categories with them collasped, I know I won't.
