Watched a program on TV the other night about some amazing facts they are discovering.
They started by talking about the 3 Pyramids in Giza and how during their construction "shafts" were placed inside the construction such that light could feed directly into the inner chambers. In the kings Chamber of the largest of these 3 pyramids a shaft leads directly from a specific point in the sky on Summer Solstice such that if you were to look out of this shaft you would see the Belt of Orion.
Now if you look at the arrangement of the 3 pyramids, their sizes and their relative distances from each other you will notice that they match EXACTLY the star cluster in the centre of Orions Belt... EXACTLY.
The orientation however is slightly off... so they looked at their charts and tried to determine what the sky would have looked like during their time rather than our current configuration. When they wound the clock back to 10500 BC they found it matched EXACTLY.
Ok... so we have some smart Egyptians.. so what?
The Sphinx. It was "supposedly" built 2400 BC and faces due east to watch the rising sun. If you note the constallation that comes over the horizon to greet it you will find that it is Taurus. Mmmm... Surely if that was the case they would have built it into the shape of a bull?
But lets wind the sky back again... and sure enough, at exactly 10500 BC the constellation of Leo was directly within the Gaze of the Sphinx. Recently Scientists have done water errotion tests on the Sphinx and believe it was created at least 8000 years before the "re-construction" done... this places its age at 10500BC
Ok... this still doesn't tell us much.
So they went to Bengal (I think.. missed where it was), to where there is a temple structure that was created 1000 years ago such that at the height of the summer solstice the sun is directly over the main temple point. All of the measurements of this temple (and the several smaller temples that surround the large one) are precise and all have a factor of 54 (To do with Hindu religion etc).
The amazing thing is that if you were to plot a top-down map of these temples you would get a rather interesting pattern... That strangely enough matches EXACTLY (but upside down) the constellation of Draco which hangs directly above the temple.
So lets turn the clock back again... Guess what???? At 10500BC the constellation of Draco matches EXACTLY the pattern of the temples.
So now we have 3 different marvels of human construction, each pointing to a constellation in their respective skies and all being precise enough to pinpoint 10500 BC as a significant time. So they searched for a 4th in a place which would look in the appropriate sky that was yet unobserved.
Near Japan they discovered several hundred feet under water a man-made construction... as yet they haven't worked out what it is or what it does.... just that its man-made and underwater.
Does anyone besides me think this is freaky!!
