Browser cannot execute Java Scripts on Web pages

Hi all,

I uninstalled few programs from my PC (OS: Windows XP with Service Pack 1). Now it happened that my browser cannot execute Java Scripts on Web pages. I reckon that it started after I removed Norton System Works 2003 from my PC. I tried to restore default settings at Internet Explorer, reinstalled the Windows XP Service Pack, but the problem persists. Is there any way to fix it (except of reinstalling the OS)?

Both, local host pages and on the Internet as well. It gives no errors, it simply ignore scripts.
By the way the VB scripts also are not working.

Goto www.sun.com and download the new Java SDK for Windows XP.

XP doesn't come with full java support anyway, so the new SDK was released by Sun Microsystems. Works fine for me...

The web-installer has problems installing if you have a hot firewall. Our's blocked every attempt, rendering the web installer useless. Download the full version, and install it that way!

EDIT: Actually.... Sun.com's java link just takes you to www.java.com

It's the manual installer you need. Sorry about that! :p

Thanks for replies. I downloaded and installed Java SDK. I also tested whether a JVM installed properly or not. The Java applets displayed without problems.
BUT with java/vb scripts the problem persists.
