    Defragmentation...

    Hello,

My computer has slowly become more and more fragmentated and therefore slower and slower. (I have 2GHz PC functioning like a 500MHz ) The problem is, there are still a lot of files in many pieces (up to 500 ). Sadly, these files are used by Windows at startup, so they can't be put together by Windows' defragmentation tool...

How can I defragmentate these files?
No matter how fool-proof your program is, there will always be a better fool.

    • Google is your friend! Search before posting!
    • Name your thread appropriately... "I Need Help" doesn't cut it!
    • Always post your code!!!! We can't read your mind!!! (well, at least most of us!)
    • Allways Include the Name and Line of the Exception (if one is occuring!)
    • If it is relevant state the version of Visual Studio/.Net Framwork you are using (2002/2003/2005)

If you want to avoid pagefile fragementation just set a fixed-size pagefile next time you reformat or something.

I have 2x 512MB page files fixed size on two separate physical drives. 1 fragment each.
