I cant install any software on my pc. There is this virus that is running in my background disguised as halokeygen.exe and anytime I end it's proccess it just respawns. So I searched the hardrive and the registry. I did an online virus scanner. I cant shake this thing. I was wondering...You know how when you open the taskmanager it shows you what proccesses are running is there a program that will list the processes and shows where the root file is located.

The best thing you can do is to ask your question at AntiOnline (http://www.antionline.com/index.php). They can be rough but the experts are there.

I know you said you can't run any programs, but based off your post saying you ran an online virus scan, I'm not 100% sure what you mean, so...
Try running "msconfig". Make sure everything is unchecked.
This won't solve your problem, but at least you'll be able to delete "halokeygen.exe" after a restart.

Ok I ran msconfig and that little thing was in win.ini and all the other startup devices. It was in the registy. So I deleted the keys but the actual virus is still in C:\windows\system32.
Ill keep you updated

Sounds like the one I had. Uncheck in msconfig and then go to Download.com and get REGVAC. Its a free program that goes though your reg and clears out the junk. If you have the same one I had it will delete for you. If not the REGVAC also has a function that allows you to delete msconfig startup entrys.

I already fixed it; it was optix.bj a backdoor virus. But the only solution I had was to backup all of my junk on an invisible 5gig partition and then Ghost my C:
