DirectPlay And Internet Messages

I want to write a small vb messaging app like aim and the Palace. I need to know how to inizalize DirectPlay get my IP Address Connect to the other persons computer, And Send text back and forth.

I am also working on a messenger using Direct Play. Only, I don't want to have to enter the IP address every time I want to talk. It's called Tank Attack Messenger. It's called this because It's for a game that I'm making called Tank Attack. The messenger, I hope, will be something like zonefriends. The MSN Gaming Zone messenger except alot more features. So far it doesn't work, I need to use DPlay to connect to other computer(s) over internet. It would be good to get some DPlay Chat samples. I have downloaded the DirectX SDK but, have found nothing for me that works.
