I have a report , which does not require a page footer, or report footer.

I have one group, the group header is to be printed at the top of the page and the group footer at the bottom of the page. Other sections stretched between the group header and footer. The group data fits into one page quite easily.

If I set the section->format->"Print at bottom of page" property of the group footer then an extra page is always added.

I have tried to stop this by using the formula = not onlastrecord() on the property "New page after" button "X+2"

There is no extra space after the group footer and if I remove the command "Print at bottom of page" then it work correctely, except the group footer is now in the middle of the page and not at the end.

- Why can't I have it at the end without it printing another stupid page!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any ideas, I have done extensive research into this and have not come up with any solutions.

Personally I really hate CR - I have been using it for 3 years now and I feel I am an expert (steep learning curve) - but there always is some really stupid frustrating non-sensical problem.

-Perhaps it is just my attitude to report writting.

it might be that your details section is too large to fit in a page...

Thank D12Bit,

Unfortunately this is not the case. I can in fact suppress the details section and it still prints the extra page.

As soon as I select the option, "Print at bottom of the page" , on the Group Footer section then an extra page is printed.

I cannot believe this is suppose to be like this. There must be some way to prevent this software printing the extra page.

I managed to get a pdf doc from Crystal Reports and they say remove the "Print at the bottom of the page" property if it is printing an extra page.

There´s another setting that you might try...

Right click on the report...in the popup menu select Designer...Page Setup... and check the bottom margin...it the margin is samller than the "real" botton margin ...it will print an extra page to include the whole report.

No matter what I try I cannot recreate this behaviour. Is your Report Footer section Suppressed, not the same as Suppress Blank Section.

Can you post more information - which sections are suppressed/hidden, which options are set in every section, how many detail lines, how many GF lines.

Does this happen in Preview mode or just when printing?

If Preview mode then you should be able to see which sections are being printed on the second page (provided the option "Show Section Names in Preview" is enabled).

Thanks once again - but unfortunately the bottom margin does not have any effect on the printing of the extra page.

Brucevde - You have helped me in the past so your input is much appreciated.

I have zipped up some bitmaps and they can be downloaded at
www.members.shaw.ca/cds_aviation/ on the hyperlink " Report Problem"

Essentially I am creating a workpack of task cards. Each task card should print on the whole page. There are some incidence when a card needs two pages and this is working. But the problem is that the last card alway generates another page as soon as I mark the "Print at the bottom of the page" on the group footer section.

Your input would be appreciated.

Shoot you are using the Crystal Designer in VB. Not a problem though.

First - Is your Report Footer suppressed (not Suppress Blank Section) but Suppress (No Drill-Down)?

I have had issues when printing boxes/lines in the past. If you remove the box does the problem still occur?

Brucevde,

You are so amazingly smart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I suppressed the report footer and sure enough, no extra page.

I really appreciate your help - this is the second time you have come to my rescue.

Any suggestions in getting rid of the highlight box when selected the drill down. It is really annoying.

Thanks again.

Bryan

Glad to help.

I agree that the highlight box is annoying but so far I have not found a way to remove it. If I ever figure it out I will let you know.
