Dx 9 Sdk
Well, this is perhaps a very basic question, but I'll ask it anyway...
I have just downloaded DX 9 SDK(I couldn't find dx 8 SDK) as MSDN)...are there any major improvements from 8.0???
Also, when installing, the setup program asks me if I want to install the Retail or Debug version of DirectX. Which should I choose....???....I want speed, but good debugging information would also be great....

If you are developing use the Debug version I have alsways used it....Have never thested DX9, but I don't think there is any big improvments in the 3D or 2D part. I think the only reason for DX9 to come out was that it is supported by the .NET plattform. And it has support for 3D in the com, DX8 has not....but it is the same support of 2D that DX7 has...
Hope that helps you....BTW Long time since I have seen you here....and if you want a link to DX8 I bet I don't use more then 5 min to find it for you....

Indeed
DX9 has more advanced bump mapping support etc. That's also why everybody makes DX9 enabled graphics accellerators(geforce FX series, and ATI Radeon 9th series)
Cheers!
