TV previews

I was wondering, you know how you watch tv and it says like for the first time bla bla bla will be proforming live on the 18th
(just an example) and then they show a little preview of it, but how can they if it hasn't happened yet?

Like here in the u.s there is or was whatever this thing called "the kings of comedy" PREMERING @ some date and time i forgot the details but i remember them showing clips of the show before it was supposed to go on air LIVE!

It reminds me of something they sometimes say about stuff on TV - 'recorded live'. Well of course it bloody well was!
