Arrrrgh! Direct Serial Printing

I am using the OPEN "COM1" FOR OUTPUT AS #1 to print to an Eltron label printer. The problem is no label will print when I send the correct command. Data is being sent to the printer via COM1 (It'll show up if I send the data in dump mode) and if I replace the COM1 with "prn" and hook up the printer via LPT1 presto I get a beautiful bar codded label. I've also tried using the MSComm ActiveX control but I get the same results if I had sent the strings via OPEN "COM1" etc. etc...


Does anyone have any experience with Direct Printing to Eltron Serial printers that can offer some light on this subject?
