    factoring

    Ive noticed this a couple of times in my math book. 2t^2 + 6t + 6 is factored as 2(t^2+ 3t + 3)

    If that is the case why would it be incorrect to factor 2x^2 + 10x + 12 as 2(x^2 + 5x + 6)?
