    Where's the sound card?

I checked whether my office pc has a sound card by means of the waveOutGetNumDevs API call and it returned > 0 so a sound card was detected. However it seems to be somehow disabled for I get an error if I try to play a was or mp3 file.

If its integrated then you can disable/enable it in the BIOS.

    Look at the Hardware window.

Right click my computer and goto properties

Now I'm puzzled, the soundcard is enabled in the Bios but no trace of it in the task bar or anywhere else.

Probably disabled in your hardware profile.
