Sorry for that whiny intro, but I can't find ANY tutorials on the internet on starting Visual C++. Would that be the right language to use if I want to make 3D games? I mean, i'm a veteran in VB now, so I want to move on to something new and be able to make the high-end 3D apps that so many programmers (and gamers) enjoy to this day. I've tried using MSDN's tutorials, but good luck (yeah right) if you're going to use them. So, could anybody help me out?

Have you tried www.planet-source-code.com? Also, try http://www.cplus-zone.com/ and www.codeguru.com.

Is that C++ tutorials, or tutorials on VC++ specifically?

See This page (http://www.planet-source-code.com/vb/Tutorial/default.asp?lngWId=3) and www.cprogramming.com

The problem is that its not geared toward Visual C++, its for C++. I know C++, i want to learn Visual C++. There is a huge difference between them.

There isnt much of a *Huge* difference, if you know the C++ language, thats a big help for using with VC++ , but as far as learning the IDE, and it's MFC , I would definitly grab a book or something at the bookstore, of you could spend a few days looking at http://msdn.microsoft.com and looking at the MSND Library online. Least this vC++ topic gives me ideas of what to throw on my site.

If you want to do 3D graphics, VB and C++ are comparable for speed.

(Stop rolling around on the floor in hysterics, it's true)

You need to learn either OpenGL (and API-style thing) or DirectX (with DLLs). Learning a whole new language isn't worth it of all you want is 3D graphics, because VB was used (I hear from various unreliable sources (aka people on this site)) to make Quake 2. I would use DirectX and VB. C++ and DirectX just ain't worth the hassle.

I don't expect that Quake 2 was written in VB, I find that really very very doubtful.

V(ery) Basic - You have been grossly misinformed. Quake 2 was not built with vb, and vb and C++ are most certainly not comparable in speed when it comes to 3d. VB can't hold a candle to c++ in that regard. Though its not vb's vault thats simply not what it was designed to do.

(Does anybody know why, on BBC Radio1 (we're speaking UK, here) they blank out '*****' in Eminem's 'The Real Slim Shady' but happily let Louise sing about bitching in 'Two Faced'?)

Oh, put those bloody eyebrows down.

I would imagine that in example one '*****' is being used as a noun and is therefore a derogatory comment about someone. The second instance is a verb that simply describes the action of whining or complaining. Small but important difference.

What about the song '*****' then? They aired that. Can't remember who did it, though.
