Crystal Reports - Groups & Sections Issue

    Using Crystal Reports 6

Have a report that displays items and their amounts in the Details section

The report includes a Group section where in the Group Footer it displays the total amount of all the items from the Details section above.

We print on custom paper that lays out all the sections i.e Titles on the Page Header, a box for the Details etc...

Problem arises when the Details section takes the entire page, but not enough to generate a following page - so we are left with the Group Footer (the totals) being displayed at the top of a next page.

Therefore we end up with the subtotals being unreadable because they are printed on top of the titles of the custom page.

So my question is whether there is a way to programme a Group section to print in another section - i.e. Group footer to always print in the Details sections after the last detail has been displayed.

I'm picking there isn't a way, but no harm in asking

    Cheers

Couple of things to try. I don't have version 6 but hopefully these are not newer features.

There is an option in the Group to "Repeat the page header on multiple pages" (or something to that effect). This should cause the Group Footer to be printed below the custom page header on the second page. If I recall correctly you need to use the Change Group menu item (right click the Group Header).

In the Format Section dialog for the Detail Section (or the section immediately before the Group Footer) try setting the "Underlay Following Sections" option.

    Thanks for your response

Unfortunately the only options I have under the Group Options are:

    - Keep group together
    - Repeat group header on each new page (which we already have ticked)

Obviously the option you talk about is only available in newer versions of Crystal

Underlay Following Section in the Details section makes no difference either

    Back to the drawing board...

    Cheers
