Searching for an experienced ASP.NET web developer for occasional freelance contract work (telecommute). I do freelance development for a large real estate company in Southern California (but I'm based in Ottawa, ON) and am looking for someone to share the workload.

Duties can include:

•Designing and building web-based applications using VB.NET and ASP.NET.
•Designing and building windows-based applications using VB.NET.
•Designing and building SQL databases for above-mentioned applications.

The applicant should possess at least 3 years experience with the following tools/skills:

•ASP.NET
•VB.NET
•Visual Studio.NET
•MS SQL Server 2000
•strong visual UI design skills
•HTML (by hand - not using “Design View“ in VS.NET)

I expect that our communication will be done online and by phone, so there is no need for the applicant to live in the Ottawa area. However, if the applicant is local, I would be open to meeting in person.

Compensation will be paid “by-the-job” and I am willing to pay by check or via PayPal. Although I am not paying by the hour, the price per job should work out to an average of about $25 CDN per hour.

If you feel you meet the above qualifications, please email your resume to jobs@frandsen.ca. If possible, please include a URL to any previous work you have done.

HTF can one possibly have 3 years experience in .Net when the Beta 1 only came out in November 2000?

The only ones that have that kind of experience with .Net are the MS employees who created it, but you would be hard pressed to pay them enough to work for you instead of MS. You might have to settle with a asp.net programmer with 2 years experience....lol

Also, 17+ dollars an hour (USD) is pretty weak for contract work if you ask me. Who knows though, the economy sucks...

Thanks for the smartass responses. Maybe I should have been more specific and said 2 yrs 9 months of .NET experience so as not to upset the accuracy police.

For those who read this and are actually interested in the position, let me clarify. I am looking for a web developer with at least 3 yrs of experience. For those tools that are less than 3 years old, then obviously I expect you to have experience with the previous version as well as the new version. (ie. ASP 3.0, VB6, etc.)

But $25 per hour cash is not too bad, especially when you don't even have to leave your home. I really don't expect anyone on the US side of the border to be interested because of the exchange rate.

Anyhow, thanks again for your negative comments. Good luck "looking for employment in Washington State".

You're most welcome.

I am having fun, and obviously we upset you because we were right.

The thing is, the price you quoted is really NOT that good for contract work unless it is done in their spare time after their real job. (besides some 16 year old going to school) I am just saying the wage you gave is not comparable to the wage of someone who has those requirements.

Sorry I upset you so bad.

Here, to make ammends, try this site for hiring people for projects:

For starters, you should notice that in my post I said "occasional freelance contract work". I am not advertising for a full-time position, and I'm not claiming to pay a high wage. This is work that I do in addition to my full-time job and I'm only looking for someone to help with the workload. For someone (preferably from Canada) who is looking for a few extra hours to earn a bit of extra cash, I think this is perfectly fine.

I'm not upset by your responses. You're misreading me if you think I am. However, I did create this post with serious intentions and my offer to those who are interested is an honest offer. If you are not interested I just question why you would bother taking the time to comment on it.

Hellswraith,

My mistake. Apparently that was my ad. I said it wasn't based on the description - I didn't enter a description when I placed my ad. This morning I was looking at my ad and it appears that they auto-populate the description field based on the requested skills.

Sorry about the confusion...

That's what I thought. It just looked so close to your description on here, and the fact that I received it soon after I told you about the site that I thought it was yours.

There are some good people on there, you should find what you need.
