    Cannot open access database,why

Lately I upgraded to VS 2003 now I am trying to add an access database in the Server explorer data connection. The database is password protected and an error is always coming up saying "The workgroup information file is missing or opened exclusively by another user". There are no other users and I can open the file from Access. I re-created the workgroup information file but did not resolve the issue.

The same error comes up if I try from VS 2002.

If I remove the password everything is fine, when I put it back I will have the error.

    Any help is much appreciated.

I am using Win 2000 on NTFS drive and VS 2003 Pro (just ugraded from 2002)

    Thanks

When you make an access database password protected at user level (not at databse level) then a security file is placed some where on your system (i cant remember its exact location). When you add such a connection to your project there is an "All" tab in Data Link Properties dialog box that you can set some extra features like the system database, passwords and so on. Try playing around with them and you will find the right way.
