Have just been watchin Ally McBeal (the thanks giving one) on Channel 4 (UK) and they had a song in it called "Swing On A Star" by Bing Crosby.

Anyways...I recognised the tune instantly from a TV program when I was a kid... (it was the theme tune but I think someone else sang it)

The program was about a 16ish girl who loved with her mother but her father was an alien. You never say him but she used to talk to him with some kinda glowing crystal thingy in her bedroom. This girl could pause time by touching her index fingers together, but unfreeze individual people by touching them.

She used to do things like trowing a bin up in the air and then pausing time while it was in mid air...she'd rush to show people then remember that they too were frozen. She'd then unfreeze time and down would come the bin with an almighty thud. I can remember her spraining her fingers while playing bowling and not being able to freeze time properly. I also remember her freezing time then unfreezing just a few people and having to explain to them that everyone was doing a new kind of dance where you had to stand still. When she later unfroze time again this poor idiot would make a fool of himself by just standing still in the middle of a disco.

I also remember an episode where she turned 16 and could choose to have one of several special alien "gifts". They included abilities like being able to float, become invisible, read people's minds and tie shoe laces extreamly quickly! Her alien father had chosen the mind reading one but after evaluating them all she decided that she "wasn't ready" and that she would for-go them all for now. Silly!

This program now makes me think of "Sabrina The Teenage Witch"...also I think the girl in it was quite similar. :)

Anyway, my point...does anybody remember this program? What was it called, who starred in it? Where are the websites for me to look at?
