If you read the comments for this contest that was an answer to your question on registring OCX. that code will give you the opportunity to check if an ocx is registerd through the return value. It was quite a laugh reading all the comments on the program that won the contest. :) many people didnt like the idea that a program that had only two API call won. :)
I cant remember which comment that talked about checking for registerd/unregisterd ocx but it is in there somewhere.
