    Cannot replace selected text in MS Word

    I suddenly realised that I cannot replace selected text any more by typing a single key (as in almost any Windows program) in MS Word. When I type any key, the selected text remains unchanged. I reinstalled Word, but the problem persists. Is it a bug or is there a setting that can fix the "problem"?
