Another Internet Sharing Thead - Problems with Linux and ICS

I have a server setup with ICS (Windows XP Pro SP1)
and a client with a dual boot with Mandrake Linux 9.1 and Windows XP pro SP1

I am new to linux and my modem doesnt work with it so i set up ICS on my other XP computer. When i had the Server set to "Dial when a computer on my network tries to access the internet" it worked fine but then programs try to access the internet it would dial even when i wasnt here (should have thought of that) so i disabled that feature on the Server.

Now i can just right click on my Internet Gateway and Click Connect or disconnect but in Linux it doesnt work! how do i setup linux to ask the gateway to dial (IP: 192.168.0.1). I tried going to the control center(i think thats what its called) and went to internet / network and the configuration tool and telling it to connect but it just says that the connection faild

If I understand it correctly, you want to be able to enable the internetconnection (which is esteblished from the server) from you (Linux client). I don't think that is possible. But you can manually enable the connection on the server, and Linux will be able to connect to the internet.
But maybe it is better to search for drivers from youre modem for linux.

Heres what help says about Discovery and Control

Internet Connection Sharing Discovery and Control overviewInternet Connection Sharing (ICS) Discovery and Control allows you to monitor and manage your shared Internet connection from a client computer. Discovery and Control automatically determines (discovers) if Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) is available and provides clients with information about, and control of, the shared Internet connection. With Discovery and Control, the ICS host computer advertises its shared connection to client computers with a broadcast. The ICS control then detects the broadcast, and an icon for the ICS host computer automatically appears in the network connections folder on the client computers. It is this icon that allows ICS clients to remotely monitor and control the shared Internet connection.

Discovery and Control allows ICS clients on your network to:

View basic statistics about the shared Internet connection.
Monitor the status of the shared Internet connection.
Remotely connect and disconnect the shared Internet connection from the Internet service provider (ISP).
Use an icon, displayed in the notification area on the taskbar, to monitor and control the shared Internet connection.

The administrator of the ICS host computer has the option to enable or disable the Discovery and Control feature that provides ICS host computer control from client computers, but the ability to view the shared Internet connection status and statistics from a client computer is always available. For more information, see View the status of a shared Internet connection.
For ICS Discovery and Control to work on Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows Millennium Edition computers, Internet Explorer version 5.0 or later must be installed.
it doesnt say anthing about other OS's (Surpise)

does anyone know how i can get this to work with Mandrake Linux 9.1?
