I've heard a few mods (Jamie) say that this sites membership will be fine with some of the older members leaving.
Has anyone taken a look at the PHP forum lately? Talk about lacking in activity.
It wasn't really very active, but there were quite a few questions, and three major players answering most of those questions. cpradio, one of them, left back when this site went to hell after the Jupitermedia take over.
phpman, another one, seems to have left ever since these damned thread ads have shown up.
The PHP forums have never been this dead before. Yet stupid decisions and ignoring users wont have consequences?
Maybe not in the General VB forum...
Just my four cents.

Well for reference, last month, our new user count (ie. the number of new users that signed up) was way over the total user count of GT.
So in one month we've received more new members than GT ever has.
There's nothing wrong with the membership figured ;)

Why are you comparing to GalahTech? Isn't that a little odd? I made no reference to them.
Wow, so you have a whole bunch of new members. How many of them actually have posts? A lot of them don't even post.
And again, my point was the PHP forum. Why you're talking about membership is beyond me.

The Hobo,
Let me first say that the primary focus of these forums is Visual Basic.
Having said that, many VB people will also use .NET or look at and review C#, or even Javascript (on Web pages). As you start to move into topics like Perl, Python, Java, and PHP, you move farther away from topics that the majority of the core VB people do. As such, it isn't uncommon for people in those areas to move to sites that have a community better focused on the topic.
That is not to say that I want to see them leave. I don't.
oops - I want to write more, but have to log off for a moment....

Oh, it has nothing to do with the way these forums are managed. That's impossible. ;)
Whatever. I knew this thread would get this kind of response. Go ask phpman and cpradio why they left. I bet they'll tell you what I've said here.
Good day.

And you guys don't even care about user suggestions. Remember that thread where I developed a way for you to center the little ad, Brad? How come you stopped responding to it?

You should follow your own "rules".

I think we are getting a little out of hand here. I cant see why one would opt to leave because one ad has been placed. As for the lack of new threads or answered threads in forums other than Visual Basic thats to be expected since it is a VB site. The only people that posted in the Java forum on a regular basis was Zimer(whatever his name was) Mrs Kenstington and Virtually VB. Now the only people that post are me, Corned Bee and the occasional odd user.

McGenius, I would like it if you would stop replying to all my threads in this similar fashion.
If I am parading around like an idiot, give me proof. Point to an example. What have I said here that is idiot?
If you continue to follow me around, I will report you. Granted, I called you an idiot, but it was in one thread. I did not posted on more than one of your threads just for the sake of calling you an idiot.
If you have a problem with me, contact me via a Private Message or through a moderator. Otherwise, stop following me around.

I know. But my point was...well, I don't remember.
But I know for a fact that cpradio and phpman left because of the ads. Both of those guys participated in numerous forums. Both of them primarily posted in the PHP forum of these sites.
Granted this is a VB site, but many people program in multiple languages, and it's nice to have a site that has the option if you ever need help in another forum.
VBF had this in the PHP forum, but now two of it's heavy hitters are gone.

Hey, I haven't been there in like a year, and I stopped by today just to see what was up...they've got a damn nice design to that site. Kinda crowded, but nice.
Then I looked at their rules.

Yeah its the rules that i dont like. The layout is nice and all but i dont like the fact that my user status hinges on whether der fuhrer deems my posts acceptable or not.

The reason I have responded in such rude manner is because you did not behave like real gentelman and you didn't even appologize when such action was expected from you.
Although, if you noticed, I DID NOT call you anything but your NICKNAME, unlike you. KIM, that that post was reported as I won't tollerate such behaviour.
I hope that you now begin to realise something, young man.
I don't get mad, I don't keep anger - I may only get upset for a short time. Regardless of your personal attitude - you must remain a gentelman, ALWAYS.

Two wrongs don't make a right. Seems you have stuff to learn as well.

Yet you'll do it yourself? You reported the post. You need not take anymore action. And if you continue to do so, I will report it. I did not follow you around to other threads.

You're not my father, don't tell me what I must do. You were hardly a gentleman on that thread either.
Now, again, do not continue to following me around spaming threads I post on or I will report it.

Don't be soooooo cocky. That's the last thing I will ever tell you.
I do have a serious doubt about your intellectual abilities and therefore I couldn't and I wouldn't communiicate to you any longer.
Best regards.
