Q about QUAKE3

I have Quake3 demo and when i start it up to play it i notice right before it starts..there is a search screen that appears and i see this in the header of the screen

"Running in restricted demo mode"

so since it says it is running in a restricited mode that makes me think it can be changed to unrestricted mode..
is this correct? if so how?

Hi, buddy.

I think when they give out the demos, they don't give you the full set of EXEs and other files. In the program maybe they have made a provision to check for these files and then decide in which mode to run. I, too, am eager to know if we can make these demos work like the real thing, but probably it's not possible.

I was afraid of that...damn and i was hoping there was away to turn this demo into a full blown game....now i gotta fork over 50$ if i want the full version.

We're talking about ID software here, they made the Quake 3 engine for ****'s sake, they know what they're doing when it comes to programming. I don't think they're gonna leave you a little backdoor to the full game for free :D

Q3Test(or your demo as you would say) is actually prettier than the actual game, I myself have it, but I didnt chuck 50$ to get it either.
