I have been using ADO as a connection tool for access 97.
    All was good.
I recently changed to access 2000.
    suddenly things went bad.
I could not connect using DAO - I got an error message telling me the file format is unrecodnized after converting the mdb file to access 2000 format.
    Has the world gone mad???
Is there somthing I'm missing ?
    Thanks.
    Dan.

The world has not gone mad, however I am well on my way to that psychological state and will arrive there soon if I do not come up with the answer to teh ASCII/Unicode problem I posted about an hour ago.

Anyway danab check out this link and you will find a good discussion of your problem

    Thanks DrewDog.
    But I figured it out.
One has to change the DAO refference file from DAO 3.51 to 3.6 .
Why didn't people stop me in the street and tell me?
    The world has gone mad....

I remember the good old days when ***** size mattered ...

There is plenty for you to explore and learn whenever M$ upgrade something.

For me, it seems like all these is waste of time. Human brain should be used to solve some productive problem, but not problem due to supplier's fault.
