I just finished my vb course at a city college and i was wondering what effect would it have on me getting a programming job? Will i be laughed at? or taken half way seriously....?

If want a job in vb and no commercial programming expierance, will probably help you get a starting position as a programmer of something. Employer's are looking for expierance rather than qualifications, unless they have a junior role available. We hired a guy who was over from Atlanta, who had done a vb course at college, he's doing well but needs commercial rules, accounting, etc explained to him. Will no doubt end up paying for a commercial course to get him over those problems.
When l started in Computing, had a degree in Commerce with a minor in Computing. Was hired more for the accounting knowledge than for the programming ability.
Sure a course is going to help you out, if you have no commercial expierance, but don't expect a senior position.

I know for sure that i wont get a senoir postion...i am just very interested in starting a entry level job in vb programming...something to get experience ..to work with people that are doing the same thing i am vb programming.
I can learn really quick..as long as the right books are around for reference...hehehe.
