If you're new to it, use Mandrake or Redhat.
They usually get you to download from mirrors. www.redhat.com or www.mandrake-linux.com will get you started.

I'm going insane :(. Do you see something I don't ??? I clicked i386 and got the above list labeled disk1 , disk2 , disk3 each of which more than 600mb . the problem now is how to download them with internet download manager ? I got this error "Can't download this file. Details : HTTP/1.0 502 Bad Gateway"
There is no such option . is there http link ?

In your file list, 3 isos have i386 in them, which indicates that they are compiled for the x86 architecture. The SRPMS, however, are platform independent (pre-compiled state).
So don't download the ones that say SRPMS.
Your download manager might be messed up or the site may not be letting you download from it with a manager. Try this place:
ftp://mirror.mcs.anl.gov/pub/redhat/redhat/linux/9/en/iso/i386/.

Get all 3 if you can, but you can generally do without the 3rd one.
However....if you choose a package during install that is on the 3rd cd, and you don't have it, you'll have to cancel the install and the setup won't get to the XFree configuration portion (at least thats how it was with RH8...it MAY have changed). In such a case you'll be stuck without any real graphical support and you'll have to configure X yourself.
So, get all three.
