Basically, my old 4x (!) cd writer just died tonight, so I'm looking to buy DVD rewriter.

I did a little bit of research a while ago and i came to the conclusion that the Sony DRU-500AX was the one for me. Mainly because of it's support for both DVD Alliance (+) and DVD Forum (-) formats.

Money is no object (within reason ) so i'm willing to pay £280 for it as i expect it to last many many years. If you have any advice on what DVD rewriter to buy, then please by all means post

Before i forget, i'm looking for one that supports both formats, for peace of mind more than anything. Also, do you know of any UK online shops where i could buy a Sony DRU-500AX? There's apparently a great shortage of the unit so most online stores are out of stock.
