Someone is going to have to run the iraqi oil industry until the iraqi government gets organized and is able to do it themselves, and yes, with all the arguing about what kind of government the iraqis want (democratic, islamic state, etc...) it could take a while before they get a government in place. What are they supposed to do in the meantime? just stop pumping oil? no, not when 100's of countries economies depend on them for a portion of their oil.

Can include? And why is operation and distribution in quotes? What exactly does that mean? This seems to be all a political move and nothing more.

I can't really comment further without seeing the actual contract and what it really entails. Also I just want to add that I am glad that it’s an American company and not a French or Russian one :)

Hmm... If that was the sole purpose of war, that just shows how irresponsible your governments have been ;) Although I must give it to them that they have given not just me, but the whole world something to talk about. Any comments on the resignation of Clare Short from the Blair government? Or the return of Garner from Iraq to the US and Bremmer taking his place? Seems to me the US never had any plans for the reconstruction and now it's trying to find some justification why it destroyed Iraq. Why it's being reported in newspapers that forget the WMDs, the US has not even found enough conventional weapons to fight a war in Iraq...
