privatly operated phone system with caller id

I'm building a private phone-based intercom system using some phones, a BUNCH of RJ11 receptical (and other various parts) and a 9 volt power transformer.

I need to generate a caller id signal to the specific loop the a com is connecting to using the soundcard in my computer (very easy to patch into a phone system)

anybody know where i can find a) some sample caller id signals, and b) any info about caller id signals?

For those who might be interested in developing a private operator-based phone system (the type they used in the fifteis), i found quie a bit of info at http://www.howstuffworks.com
do a search for telephone.

My system does not use dtmf or any extension numbers. When somebody pick up a com, a light goes on. Operator plugs headset into plug underneith light. Com user indicates which com the operator should onnect him to. Operator directly connects, using a two-conductor RJ11 wire, to the indicated com and presses the "ring" button. This steps the voltage on the line to 70VAC 60Hz.
