Hi,

I'm trying to change my career. I worked (in my country) first as Sales Executive afterwards I was promoted to Search Engine Specialist. I got married and I came to USA and I'm trying here to get a job as VB programmer (I always wanted that)but I have no eperience background in programming field, but I really enjoy and like the programming world. I'm taking the second course to learn VB 6.0 programming.

Do you think it might be possible for me to get a entry level job in this field? I love challenges and I can work hard because I like it! May be a Microsoft Visual Basic's Certification can help? Do you have some advices to prepare me for this Certification Exam?

Thanks a lots for your time and help, I really appreciate it!!

Best wishes,
Xenia Jones

(IMO)...

Please don't go out and get MS Certified. It just gives MS that much more of a strong hold on the industry. Besides, you don't really learn a damned thing until you actually do it for work, and well, read this board.

As far as a job goes, there are a lot of opportunities for entry level programmers out there. Depending on where you're living, there may be quite the demand.

I'd recommend at least getting a certificate in programming from a local college. Maybe night classes? U. Mass-Lowell offers online education at www.uml.edu. (http://www.uml.edu.) Many others do as well, I'm just more familiar with them.

After you get some classes under your belt, try finding a job through a recruiter. It's usually the easiest way. You are likely to start out at something very entry level. Maybe testing code, or editing code that already exists. Most developers don't get the opportunity to jump right into the thick of things and start writing applications.

I hope this helps.
