My interest in making a game

I'm interested in making a game in c++ but don't what some complicated DX or MFC app form underbelly. I also would like to be free from the console graphics (:P)! Maybe just use some win APIs. There any good methods of getting some kind of form to work on? Maybe an API call or something...

    Thanks! NOMAD!

    First, using DX isn't difficult
I have read the book "Windows Game Programming for Dummies", which describes everthing from Windows programming and up to Game programming with DirectX.
It starts at the very beginning with DX and slowly moves forward, finishing off by creating a fully working 16-bit 2D game engine.
A really good book for beginners!

    Good luck!

Thanks, I'll check out the book on my next bookstore venture.
(I had a feeling that someone would say DX wasn't hard)
I'e been screwing around with OGL because I had problems with DX8 (this was 3d). Now I'm frustrated and looking to make anything... So I'll take a look and maybe make something playable...

Use OpenGL in preference to Direct3D if you want to make a game, it's usually far better supported.

you might try checking out gametutorials.com they have tutorials on how to make games as well as opengl and directx. They also have links to many of the game dev sites around.
C, C++ and none of that MCF crap either!

A very quick and easy method for using OpenGL in any system is GLUT, if you search for version 3.7 it has native Windows support
