    Tips and ideas on how to create a travel site using in PHP will be very much appreciated.

    Well, for starters, you would need to buy a license to gain access to the database system that airlines use to book flights. Then you would need access to the same kind of system for hotels... not sure if there is one. Then there's car rentals....
    Then once you have that, if you haven't already, then you'd need a sugar daddy w/ some deep pockets & $$$, cuz you are going to need to buy at least one or more serves to handle it all. Then comes development. That is going to take some time.... oh, then you'll need some way of being able to accept credit cards and other forms of payment.
