Ok this is a long shot, but for all I know maybe ASP.NET makes it easy.

What level of effort would be required to make a web page with chat functionalilty that allows users to share apps? Kind of like NetMeeting. The idea is to be able to have Netmeeting like functionality with folks who are behind a firewall that is impenetrable by Netmeeting.

Ideally it would be nice to have a page that lets outsiders participate in an internal Netmeeting. I know this is possible because there are companies that provide this service on their website. I just dont know what level of effor it is to develop.

Would this be fairly easy with ASP.NET or would it be a major project?

Not possible with ASP.NET

What you have seen are Java programs.

Java runs in a different sand box than the rest of the browser and has different permissions, including those that take screen shots, transfer files, etc.
